As OMSAN Logistics, we focused on digitalization and increasing productivity with new business models with our customer-oriented approach in the first half of the year, as well as during and after the pandemic. We are making our activities with the restructuring in the automotive logistics and energy (hazmat) Transportation: sea, air, rail and transportation projects, regions and Domestic road transport, overseas operations, e-logistics, warehousing and distribution we gathered under the business lines. We have accelerated our growth with the precision we have shown in meeting the needs of multiple transportation services, especially intermodal transportation, with the approach of becoming a solution partner of our customers. Compared to the previous year, our operation volume increased in all modes of transport. We have achieved an increase in the volume of cargo carried by both private and chartered ships in maritime transportation. Last year, we increased our business volume in automotive and hazardous materials transportation, where we felt the impact of the pandemic. Taking into account the average sector growth admissions for the last five years, we recorded more than five times this average growth in the first half of the year compared to the previous period.

  1. What are your projects for the rest of the year?

Adhering to the medium- and long-term strategy plans of our company, we will continue to be the pioneer of innovative practices in the sector and contribute to the development of our sector. By expanding our range of services, we will continue our sustainable growth with the goal of becoming a global logistics service provider, not missing digitalization, customer satisfaction and the trained human element in all our business processes. We do not see this growth as achievable, sustainable without our qualified, experienced human resources. For this reason, we are putting people at the center of our work; we will invest in our employees, enable them to gain agile approaches, and increase applications that will support their development.

On the other hand, we are carrying out our infrastructure studies to achieve our wide-ranging breakthrough goals, especially for the e-commerce sector. We are shaping both our conventional and e-commerce logistics processes in parallel with this breakthrough goal. We are planning designs that will contribute to the expansion of our storage and distribution areas, enable dynamic and fast movements, and we are revising our technological infrastructure.

  1. What changes has the pandemic caused in your strategic plans? What were your projects in the field of digitalization and technology?

During the pandemic period, we gained a competitive advantage by focusing on digitalization and sustainable business models. We have provided a digital transformation of our existing processes so that our customers can monitor the entire supply chain from end to end. We have increased the speed, quality and efficiency of our services. With our investments in technological infrastructure, we have quickly adapted to the difficult conditions brought about by the epidemic. We have provided value-creating business results to our customers by reading the outputs of our data analytics studies well. We have created new kiosks and automation points at the sites. Using RPA (robotic process automation) technologies, we have created a structure in which we progress faster, error-free in our internal processes.

  1. The pandemic, global warming and, accordingly, the growing number of natural disasters have brought sustainability to a more important point than ever before. The climate crisis and the Green Consensus have become one of the top priority agendas all over the world.Yesilmaz At this point, logisticians also have big tasks. What do you think are the tasks of logisticians for a sustainable world?

The necessity of transporting millions of products every day and the fact that transportation vehicles operate mostly with fossil fuels increase the emission of greenhouse gases such as CO2. In the face of this threat, it is important to choose the right transportation vehicles and to carry out activities such as maintenance, repair and inspection effectively in terms of reducing fuel consumption and carbon emissions for sustainability. As OMSAN Logistics, we are looking for ways to minimize our carbon footprint. We provide services with our fleet, whose maintenance we monitor periodically, our practices to improve employee behavior, our green transportation activities, and our modern infrastructure in our facilities. In addition, it is very important to reduce the share of road transport, which is carried out intensively in the sector, and to increase the share of railway and sea transport, which has less environmental impact. We are doing our part in this regard and expanding our more environmentally friendly intermodal and rail transport services. I think it is important that the European Green Consensus standards should be adapted to Turkey, in addition to the duties that fall on the logisticians.

  1. What are your strategies, studies and projects on sustainability and environment?

As OMSAN, we implement the Environmental Management System meticulously and continue our efforts to be a pioneer in creating environmental awareness in our sector, to protect our global resources and to leave a clean world to future generations. Based on this purpose; With the ISO 14001 Environmental Management System certificate we have, we try to minimize the negative effects of our activities on the environment. We use environmentally friendly materials in all our activities, and we follow encouraging and supportive policies to turn our employees into ‘Green Consumers’. While our head office has the Zero Waste Certificate approved by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanization, we also apply the zero waste system in all our other offices. In operational terms, we are expanding our more environmentally friendly intermodal and railway transportation services.

Today, companies that take the lead in global sustainability practices are one step ahead of the competition. It is possible to say the same competition for our country. This is what our customers expect as well. Therefore, we will take the environmentalist perspective as our compass in all our investments that we will make in the upcoming periods.
