Ergun Arıburnu, Chairman of the Board of OMSAN Logistics:
“The Middle Corridor, the Zangezur Corridor and the Development Road projects not only strengthen Türkiye’s position as a transit country, but also drive the reshaping of production and logistics hubs.”
ISTANBUL (AA) – OKTAY ÖZDEMİR – In parallel with the Middle Corridor, the Zangezur Corridor and the Development Road Project, which reinforce Türkiye’s potential to become a regional logistics hub, OMSAN Logistics is shaping its new-term vision around “sustainable growth” and “integrated transportation”.
With the activation of the Middle Corridor stretching from China to Europe, the completion of the Zangezur Corridor, and the launch of the Development Road Project connecting the Persian Gulf to Türkiye, the volume of trade passing through Türkiye is expected to multiply in the coming years.
Ergun Arıburnu, Chairman of the Board of OMSAN Logistics, emphasized in his remarks to an AA correspondent that the new projects ensuring uninterrupted trade flow between Asia and Europe will significantly enhance Türkiye’s logistics capacity at a regional scale.
Stating that these projects bring the logistics sector to the threshold of a new era, Arıburnu noted that the corridors and projects not only strengthen Türkiye’s position as a transit country but also lead the reconfiguration of production and logistics centers.
Arıburnu said, “These projects are strategic infrastructures that not only expand Türkiye’s transit capacity but also support exports and industrial production. In line with this vision, we are strengthening our integrated transportation solutions.”
– “We aim to close 2025 with USD 600 million in revenue”
Arıburnu stated that OMSAN will implement new investments in 2026 that will enhance sustainability and efficiency, and continued:
“New transportation routes are transforming Türkiye into a strategic logistics hub on both east-west and north-south axes. At OMSAN, we aim to convert this potential into added value by offering integrated solutions in rail, sea and road transportation. At OMSAN Logistics, we provide end-to-end solutions across road, air, rail and sea transport with more than 800 self-owned vehicles, 3,500 business partners, and over 200,000 square meters of warehouse space. With our digitalization and sustainability-focused investments, we aim to complete 2025 with USD 600 million in revenue.”
Arıburnu noted that the global logistics sector has become one of the most dynamic fields of the world economy, reaching an economic size of approximately USD 10 trillion as of 2024. He added that with the expansion of e-commerce, diversification of supply chains, and increasing green logistics investments, the sector is projected to reach USD 13 trillion by 2030.
Referring to the World Bank’s Logistics Performance Index (LPI) 2023 report, Arıburnu stated that Türkiye ranked 38th among 160 countries, showing stable progress in recent years.
With the launch of new projects, Arıburnu forecasts that Türkiye will rise into the top 25 of the global ranking by 2028, adding, “Türkiye, which exports approximately USD 40 billion worth of logistics and transportation services, possesses one of Europe’s leading fleets in road, maritime and air transportation.”
Highlighting that green logistics and sustainable transportation are no longer preferences but necessities, Arıburnu concluded:
“At OMSAN Logistics, establishing an environmentally responsible logistics ecosystem is our top priority. We are increasing the share of rail and sea transport in our operations to reduce carbon emissions. We are committed to keeping our carbon footprint below the growth of our business volume, which we plan to significantly expand by 2030. In this context, we are both enhancing operational efficiency and contributing to Türkiye’s green transformation vision.”
