The Line revitalised after the earthquake adds strength to logistics

OMSAN Logistics is preparing to start transport operations on the Malatya-Gölbaşı-Narlı-Nurdağı railway line, which has been reopened after repair works.

Pointing out that the railway line has a strategic importance for the regional economy and logistics sector, Ahmet Tansık, General Manager of OMSAN Logistics, said, “Regional development will accelerate thanks to the line, which has been reactivated as a result of the Ministry of Transport’s close follow-up and acceleration of the process.”

Malatya-Gölbaşı-Narlı-Nurdağı railway line, which was damaged in the earthquakes centred in Kahramanmaraş, was reopened on 15 September 2025 after repair works. OMSAN Logistics is also preparing to start transport operations in the coming days on the line where the State Railways of the Republic of Turkey (TCDD) has started its services.

Having emphasised that the reopening of the 235-kilometre-long Malatya-Gölbaşı-Narlı-Nurdağı railway is of critical importance for the regional economy and logistics sector, Ahmet Tansık, General Manager of OMSAN Logistics, said: “During the period when the line was closed, freight transport was forcibly directed to the Malatya-Sivas-Kayseri-İskenderun route. This long and costly route was causing serious losses in terms of both time and cost.”

Stating that the line, which was reactivated thanks to the close follow-up and acceleration of the process by the Ministry of Transport, will reduce costs and increase efficiency in logistics transport, Tansık reported that OMSAN Logistics would start transport operations on the railway line in the coming days.

Pointing out that Malatya-Gölbaşı-Narlı-Nurdağı railway line is the backbone of the logistics of the region, Tansık continued his words as follows: “Thanks to this line, which has been put into service again, direct access to the Mediterranean ports will be provided. This development, which will increase the foreign trade capacity of the region, will also accelerate regional development.”

Critical for Ermaden

Halil Yıldırım, General Manager of Ermaden, pointed out the importance of the re-commissioning of the railway line for the activities of Ermaden, which plays a critical role in the raw material supply of OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies, and said: “With the re-commissioning of the line, the transport time of iron ore extracted from our Demirdağ facilities in Divriği, Sivas will be shortened and the transport capacity will double. This development will contribute to the competitive power of OYAK Mining Metallurgy companies.”
